Global Recycled Standard
The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) was originally developed by Control Union Certifications in 2008, and ownership was transferred to Textile Exchange on January 1, 2011. GRS is an international, voluntary standard, entirely dedicated to products that define requirements for outsourced certification of recycled material, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
BETTER COTTON INICIATIVE
The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) — a global not-for-profit organisation — is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world. Together with our partners we provide training on more sustainable farming practices to more than 2.3 million cotton farmers in 23 countries. In the 2018-19 cotton season, licensed BCI Farmers produced more than 5.6 million metric tonnes of ‘Better Cotton’ – that accounts for around 22% of global cotton production!
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was developed by the leading producers of patterns to define globally recognized requirements for organic textiles. From raw material harvesting, environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, to labeling, GOTS certified textiles offer a credible guarantee to the consumer.
OEKO TEX - STANDARD 100
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the best known labels in the world for textile products tested for the presence of harmful substances. It means customer confidence and high product security.
HIGG SUSTAINABILITY INDEX
Developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the Higg Index is a suite of tools that enables brands, retailers, and facilities of all sizes - at every stage in their sustainability journey - to accurately measure and score a company or product's sustainability performance. The Higg Index delivers a holistic overview that empowers businesses to make meaningful improvements that protect the well-being of factory workers, local communities, and the environment.
RECYLCED CLAIM STANDARD
The RCS is used as a chain of custody standard to track recycled raw materials through the supply chain. As per label grade RCS offers two logo varieties: RCS 100 (minimum 95% recycled material content) or RCS blended (minimum 5% recycled material content). The standard was developed through work done by the Materials Traceability Working Group, part of OIA's Sustainability Working Group.
