Textile materials promoting a circular textile industry
OceanSafe AG is a Swiss pioneer material science company with headquarters in Bern, Switzerland.
naNea, OceanSafe next-generation textile material, is designed to replace conventional polyester. It is the first synthetic textile material Cradle to Cradle CertifiedŽ Gold, affirming its alignment with the principles of the circular economy.
While it performs like conventional PET, its novel polymer structure renders biodegradability in seawater without the reliance on chemical additives. Rigorous testing for ecotoxicological effects by Hohenstein confirms that naNea is environmentally safe.
naNea does not emit persistent microplastics, nor does it contain harmful substances such as toxicants or heavy metals. It is recyclable along with PET at the end of its lifecycle. These characteristics make naNea truly circular, thus suitable to re-enter the technical and biological cycles.
naNea can be used for all common textile applications of PET, where performance and durability are paramount. It offers a soft hand feel and is washable at 60°C. Lastly, naNea is highly industrially scalable and is a drop-in technology. This means that existing production equipment can be utilized along the entire value chain, facilitating easy and fast implementation in production processes.
